November 14, 2007 The Star’s House Contest Award Ceremony
During the Architectural Award 2007 ceremony, the Star’s House student contest winners were awarded their prizes
In 2007, the students were offered to design a house for one of the following world famous persons: The Queen Elizabeth II, footballer Ronaldinho, actress Mila Jovovich, actor and film director Fedor Bondarchuk, artist Salvador Dali or fashion designer John Galliano. As one of the jury members noticed, the competitors "don’t have to demonstrate how the celebrities live, but how they should live".
The first place was given to Abode for Mila Jovovich by Alexander Leonov and Svetlana Vassilieva (MARHI). The second place - to the Cloud-House for Salvador Dali by Anton Ladygin and Alexey Kurkov (MARHI), the third place – to the Metamorphosis-House for Salvador Dali ironically depicting the artist’s famous mustaches. The authors of this project are Olga Orzunova and Margarita Gareyeva studying at Ural State Academy of Art and Architecture. First and second prizes won by MARHI students became the first achievement of the Russian main architectural school students in this contest during the five-year period.
But probably the most valuable gift a free course in Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan – was given to Ekaterina Fedina, a Moscow Construction Institute student, who designed an amazing house for John Galliano; her project shows the living space as if it raises out of fashion runway.
